THANKFUL FOR GAMING
October 11th, 2026

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. On Sundays, I usually focus on the Blog section called Mike's Place, but I'm sharing a news and highlights update instead. Thanks for reading. This past Friday, our pilot program, Playroom Academy, grew.

If you don't know yet, Playroom Academy is our new flagship youth program. It invites them to discover gaming platforms in new ways and connect with others. More importantly, it shows them how to make gaming part of their routine, and not just an occasional social outlet. And yes, the program is free to participate in.
Since August, this group of gaming enthusiasts has been meeting bi-weekly. It is the first of many gaming groups, and by 2027, Playroom Academy will be ready to serve 144 of Thames Center's youth.
Plans are underway to visit schools, starting with Northdale Central Public School. River Heights Public School will once again host monthly field trips for Laura Pye's Grade 3 classroom. And outreach has begun with West Nissouri Public School, where we hope Thorndale can be better connected to the game space. But parents don't need to wait to see their kids explore this new opportunity. Spots are very limited right now, but students in Grade 3 and above can join us to see if Playroom Academy is right for them. It's going to be an amazing, fun journey, and your kids are invited.
